(Cologne/Amsterdam, 3. February 2025) – The second part of ‘Juf Braaksel’, the successful co-production by Splendid Film and its partner AM Pictures, is also proving very popular, just like part 1. Since its cinema release in December 2024, ‘Juf Braaksel en de Geniale Ontsnapping’ has attracted more than 200,000 cinema-goers. The production thus joins the ranks of the Splendid Group's successful children's films and local productions in the Benelux countries and establishes another franchise alongside the Misfit and Slimefilm series, the third part of which is already in the works.
The Splendid cinema line-up in the Netherlands has even more highlights in store: ‘Woezel & Pip’, a new edition of the well-known and popular Dutch animated series for children, now in live-action. The family friendly film is a co-production with long-standing partner NewBe and will be launched on 5 February 2025. ‘Love Fail Repeat’ is aimed at young adults and will be released in Dutch cinemas on 20 February 2025. The plot: Emy works in the hippest five-star hotel for the rich and famous in the Caribbean. She works hard for her dream of climbing to the top of the career ladder, until one day she is asked to look after a famous reality star. Everything goes wrong at once and Emy's career goal seems further away than ever when she suddenly gets the chance to relive the same day over and over again, encountering the love of her life again and again...

Another romantic comedy for young adults is ‘Red Flags’, which is scheduled for cinema release in April. Further co-productions with various partners are scheduled for cinema release in the Netherlands this year. The genre range extends all the way to the eagerly awaited serial killer thriller ‘Amsterdamned II’ with a cinema release in December 2025. ‘Local themes with familiar faces and plots tailored to the target groups are what make our co-productions so successful,’ says Thomas Wolff, Managing Director of Splendid Film B.V., who is responsible for marketing the films in the Benelux countries. ‘Alongside the German market, the Dutch market is of great interest to us’, says Andreas R. Klein, CEO of Splendid Medien AG. ‘We see increasing potential in the (co-)production and marketing of our own local film rights, which we want to intensify and further expand.’

Splendid Film B.V., based in Amsterdam and part of the Splendid Group, distributes films in Dutch and Belgian cinemas, on international streaming platforms such as Netflix and Prime Video, and on local platforms like Pathé Thuis. In addition to distribution, Splendid Film B.V. focuses on the development, co-production, and release of Dutch films, including successful titles such as the Misfit, Slijmfilm, and Juf Braaksel series, Game On, Rokjesnacht, and the upcoming Love Fail Repeat. Alongside a strong slate of local productions, Splendid Film B.V. is also known for the successful marketing of major international films, including the Oscar-winning Moonlight, the horror sensation Hereditary, and the critically acclaimed Sing Sing, which is currently in cinemas. Splendid Film continues to bring compelling stories to audiences across multiple platforms, ensuring a diverse and engaging film offering.
